Dear Diana,

When I decided to move from my hometown in California to go to Purdue's College of Liberal Arts (CLA), I never imagined the opportunities I would gain. Choosing a college can be a tough decision, but for me, after visiting a few schools, Purdue stood out above the rest.

The amazing opportunities started for me the moment I enrolled at Purdue. My freshman year, I was invited to join the Dammon Dean’s Scholars program and jumped into an intellectual and research community that enabled me to combine my two passions of research and politics. After the program, I was able to continue working with Professors Nadia Brown and Valeria Chapman on their Diversity and Inclusion project through the Center for the Environment.

I was able to continue working with Professor Brown in the Wilke Undergrad Research Internship Program on her groundbreaking project that investigates reactions to the appearance of black women politicians. This experience also solidified my interest in politics, so last summer I applied to intern at the Indiana State Senate.

In this internship, I was thrust into the professional world, lived by myself, wore a suit every day and developed a deeper understanding of the political process. And I learned so much about myself in the process. I got to work with people who change the lives of millions each day.

I’ve had so many opportunities in my college career, and all of them were available to me because I chose Purdue. These and so many more opportunities are waiting for you at Purdue Liberal Arts. Learn more by scheduling a campus visit today.

Hope to see you on campus!
