Dear Diana:

When it comes to environmental sustainability, Pitzer has been committed to education and action for the last 50 years.

Here’s a quick snapshot of Pitzer's sustainability efforts on campus over the last several years. Click the picture for more information about sustainability within the Pitzer community:

Pitzer has taken its commitment to sustainability off-campus as well. The Robert Redford Conservancy for Southern California Sustainability is a living laboratory located one mile north of Pitzer’s campus that uses art, media and technology to educate future generations about climate change, using Southern California as our test kitchen.

Nearly three-quarters of Pitzer’s campus is landscaped in native California, drought-resistant plants, and all future buildings must receive a LEED certification for environmental sustainability. McConnell Bistro was also one of the first dining halls in the country to go tray-less, in order to cut down on water waste.

Climate change and sustainability will continue to be important issues in the future, and we know that you will contribute to our 50+ year legacy of thinking critically about environmental sensitivity.
