Dear Diana,

It’s hard for me to believe that five years have passed since I first toured the Brandeis campus! Back then, I thought I would be pursuing a pre-med track and applying to medical schools during my senior year. However, my academic experiences at Brandeis have led me on a drastically different path: I am in the process of applying to work for Teach for America before continuing my education at Brandeis as a part of the Juris Doctor/Master of Public Policy program. My goal is to one day shape education policy to make higher education more diverse and accessible.

How did I make the decision to completely change the path that I had thought was the right one for me for so long? Well, that’s the magic of Brandeis. The liberal arts core of the university opened my eyes to areas of study and opportunities that I never would have considered, and the incredible resources for research helped me explore these opportunities in a way that was meaningful to me.

One of the greatest pieces of advice I received in my time at Brandeis came from our Dean of Students, Jamele Adams, just one week into my first semester on campus: “Do not think of yourself as undeclared or undecided—think of yourself as exploring.” With the support of the incredible faculty and friends that will be with me long after I graduate, I have found a combination of majors and minors that is altogether thrilling, challenging, and fulfilling. Outside of the classroom, I have participated in and served on the executive board of a variety of on-campus activities and have had the opportunity to complete three amazing internships in the greater Boston area. I attribute my happiness and confidence in my future to Brandeis.

If you are eager to learn, to grow, to challenge yourself, and to change the world, then I encourage you to apply to Brandeis by our January 1 deadline.

All the best,
