Dear Diana:

Pitzer students are taught to challenge traditional ways of learning, and to make connections between academic disciplines. In the words of one of our professors, Dr. Al Wachtel, Professor of Creative Studies, “Where academic disciplines intersect, breakthroughs occur.”

Interdisciplinary learning is woven into the DNA of the Pitzer academic experience. Our Educational Objectives encourage students to bring a spirit of inquiry and adventure to their courses while meeting the intellectual goals of a Pitzer education.

The Claremont University Consortium enables Pitzer students to cross-register and take courses at the other Claremont Colleges. Our shared academic calendar and contiguous campuses make it easy to take advantage of all that our seven institutions have to offer!

40 majors and 22 minors are offered at Pitzer. Instead of academic departments, Pitzer features interdisciplinary field groups comprised of faculty from different academic backgrounds examining topics from different perspectives.

At Pitzer, scientists, sociologists, historians, writers and artists often teach courses together, blurring the lines between academic disciplines while teaching students to be high-caliber, analytical, adaptive thinkers. This approach allows students to develop sought-after, transferable skills they can take into any field in their adult lives.

Where will your academic pathway lead at Pitzer?

Provida futuri,
