Where will you be in November, 2017?

Imagine yourself settled in at college next year, planning your second semester schedule of classes and looking for that perfect study break activity…

If you were at Pomona this week, you might

Attend a special film screening of
Saving Mr. Wu (2015), part of the 12th annual Chinese American film festival. Based on actual events, "Saving Mr. Wu" features Andy Lau as an actor abducted by kidnappers posing as cops in a time-jumping thriller. Actor Wu Ruofu, whose own 2004 kidnapping serves as the basis here, plays the rescuer.

Scream out your stress at a SCIAC (Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) Championship match between conference champs and number one seed, the
Pomona Pitzer Men’s Water Polo team, and their yet-to-be-determined opponent. The Sagehens had a breakout year, finishing the regular season ranked #15 in the nation.

Go to an
Oldenborg Luncheon Colloquium, “From the Battlefield to Hollywood,” and meet Nick Ut, the AP photographer who won the 1973 Pulitzer Prize for photography for one of the most definitive photos of the 20th century, an image of a young Vietnamese girl running naked down a road after her village had been hit by napalm. Ut’s 50-year career in photojournalism has included covering major stories including the Rodney King riots, the O.J. Simpson case, the Olympics and the Pope.

Or, maybe an
Art After Hours event would help get your creative juices flowing. This week’s Pomona College Museum of Art event (every Thursday night) features art accompanied by live music by Bambu, a father, MC and Los Angeles-based community organizer. Bambu's concert serves as a mode of political expression as well as community healing.

Picture yourself at college, imagine the possibilities—for expanding your knowledge, your interests, your friend groups, and the ways you think about your future. We hope you’ll consider doing that at Pomona.
