Dear Diana,
| | My name is David and I am a junior at Harvard writing on behalf of the Undergraduate Minority Recruitment Program (UMRP). During my time as a Harvard student, I've had some amazing experiences like being able to meet some of my political heroes and becoming involved with LGBTQ pre-professional societies. A few years back, however, I doubted whether Harvard could be a place for me. |
As the first person in my family to go college, I was unsure where to turn for guidance and support in navigating the college application process. Frankly, I also wasn't sure if Harvard was a place where someone like me - a person of color, low-income, first-generation, LGBTQ - would be able to belong fully and authentically.
That's why I'm writing to you about my experiences and to let you know that the UMRP is here to answer any questions you might have. Now that I'm beginning my third year at Harvard, I could not be more proud to call Harvard home. The incredible financial aid program, the world-class educational opportunities, and the close friendships I have made have all confirmed that Harvard is where I belong.
I’d love to hear from you and share information about academics, admissions, or my experiences as a student at Harvard.
I hope to hear from you soon!
Sincerely,
David Olvera-Sanchez UMRP Coordinator Harvard Class of 2018 |
