The college application process can be confusing, so I wanted to share important information with you about applying Early Decision, our earliest application option.

Nearly a quarter of our freshman class was filled by students admitted through Early Decision last year. Early Decision applications include a binding agreement to enroll. This means that if accepted, you agree to withdraw your applications for admission to all other institutions. You only want to apply through Early Decision if Christopher Newport is your first choice and you do not need to make future considerations about where you would like to attend (such as financial aid or future visits to other colleges).

Here are some of the benefits of applying Early Decision:

• If you feel like Christopher Newport is a good fit for you, applying Early Decision will give you the best chance for admission. This demonstrates your passion and commitment to CNU, and we take that into account when reviewing your application. The competitive nature of our overall applicant pool often forces us to select between highly qualified applicants and Early Decision applicants are given preference.
  
  
• Early Decision applicants will be given preferential review for our scholarship programs: the President's Leadership Program and Honors Program.
  
  
• The Early Decision application deadline is November 15. You will be notified of your admission decision no later than December 15. This means that if admitted, your college search ends earlier so you can enjoy your last semester of high school knowing you'll be attending one of the finest universities in America!
