Hi Diana,

I wanted to share information about the two early application options at Christopher Newport University. Please review the information below, and feel free to use me as a resource during your college search and application process. CNU is a special place and our "Students First" philosophy means we'll do everything we can to help you, including assisting you during your admission experience.

At Christopher Newport we have three application options — Early Decision, Early Action and Regular Decision.

IMPORTANT DATES
Application Plan Deadline to Apply Notification Date
Early Decision November 15 December 15
Early Action  December 1 January 15
Regular Decision February 1 March 15

Applying Early Decision demonstrates your passion and commitment to Christopher Newport and we take that into account when reviewing your application. Early Decision applicants will be among the first students considered for the President's Leadership Program, the Honors Program and other scholarships. Also, your college search ends earlier so you can enjoy your last semester of high school knowing you'll be attending one of the finest universities in America. When you apply early decision you are committing to attend. This means that if accepted, you will withdraw your applications from all other institutions.

Like Early Decision, Early Action applicants benefit from early notification, but they do not have to make a commitment to attend. The primary benefit of applying Early Action to CNU is the chance to have your application reviewed — and hopefully offered admission long before the traditional spring notification date.

Regular Decision is the last round of review. Keep in mind that a higher percentage of students will be admitted through Early Decision and Early Action, so Regular Decision will be the most competitive in terms of admit rate. Students initially deferred through Early Decision and Early Action will be given preference over Regular Decision applicants when they provide updated academic information, such as first semester senior year grades and new SAT or ACT scores.

The college application process can be confusing. Please feel free to email or call if you have any questions. I look forward to reviewing your application!

Warm regards,

Sasha Kirik
