Why I visited Kenyon (and you should, too) Dear Diana,
I first visited Kenyon during Cultural Connections, an overnight admissions program. As a Nigerian-American who grew up in Harlem, New York, I was hosted by a student who shared not just my cultural background, but also my interests in basketball and video games (I beat him and his hallmates at NBA 2K13). I’m now a senior psychology major and music minor at Kenyon, and my host, who graduated last year, is one of my best friends. That visit was a valuable first step in helping me decide that Kenyon was the right place for me. And it wouldn’t have been possible if I hadn’t applied for a Trustee Opportunity Travel Grant, which helped cover the cost of my trip. I encourage you to apply for a Travel Grant (the deadline is October 12) and register for Cultural Connections on Nov. 5-7. As someone who did both, I can assure you that checking out Kenyon will be worth it. Sincerely, Benjamin "Benji" Raji '17 Catonsville, MD |
