| Diana, Rice Professor Rebecca Richards-Kortum has received a coveted MacArthur Fellowship — a no-strings-attached grant of $625,000 commonly referred to as the "genius grant."
Richards-Kortum is the Director of the Rice 360° Institute for Global Health Technologies which offers innovative undergraduate programs that engage students to design and implement new technologies to solve global health challenges. Beyond her role as Director of the Rice 360° Institute, Richards-Kortum serves as a Professor of Bioengineering and Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering. A prominent thought leader and engineer, she is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and an inaugural member of the National Advisory Council in Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering for the National Institutes of Health.
