When Asaf Meir ’14 arrived at Brandeis, the 24-year-old freshman was already a decorated soldier, a world traveler and an experienced manager. Here at Brandeis, he added to his resume, becoming a community advisor, an officer with Brandeis Visions for Israel in an Evolving World (BView), a teaching assistant and a web developer. Martin Luther King Jr. scholar Jade Eckels ’18 lost no time immersing herself in campus life. The Atlanta native participates in the Brandeis Black Student Organization, the Brandeis African Student Organization, the Women of Color Alliance and Brandeis Democrats. She is an English Language Learning Initiative tutor and a fellow of Brandeis Bridges, an organization that seeks to strengthen ties between African-American and Jewish undergraduates.

Newton, Mass., native Julia Schiantarelli '17 is an undergraduate researcher in Professor Bruce Goode’s lab, where she combines genetics, biology and biochemistry to study actin, the human body’s most abundant protein.

Nora Owens '16 is an art history major from Princeton Junction, N.J. She works as an art assistant at the Women’s Studies Research Center, and as a gallery guide at Brandeis’ Rose Art Museum. She is also a member of the Student Committee for the Rose Art Museum (SCRAM).

Springfield, Mass. native Victor Carreras ’15 is determined to improve access to health care for the needy. Last year he went to Honduras with Brandeis Global Medical Brigades to help triage doctors take vitals and patient histories. A Health: Science, Society and Policymajor, Carreras is also a member of ¡AHORA! and the Brandeis Big Siblings program.
