HARVARD COLLEGE Admissions & Financial Aid

Dear Diana,

Hope you're having a great summer! We're Matthew, Elizabeth, Genesis, and Leo, and we're the summer coordinators for the Undergraduate Minority Recruitment Program (UMRP). You can contact us at any time throughout the summer.

Our jobs are to promote multicultural life at Harvard, and we would love to talk to you about the college application process, our experiences on campus and our transitions from high school to college. As current students, we understand that the college search can be quite daunting, but we are here to give you a helping hand.

Who are we?

  • Matthew is a rising sophomore from Jackson, MS, and he is involved in the Black Men's Forum. He enjoys improvising various genres of music on his violin.
  • Elizabeth is a rising sophomore from Brookline, MA and is involved in Fuerza Latina. In her free time, she loves ballroom dancing and training for marathons.
  • Genesis is a rising sophomore from Dorchester, MA, and is involved in Black C.A.S.T., the Black theater company on campus, and one of her hobbies is spending time with her friends along the Charles River
  • Leo, a rising senior from Katy, TX, is currently on the board of the Chinese Students Association, and he dabbles in cooking and baking during his free time.

With our involvements in various communities of color and many other extracurricular activities, we have a wide range of experiences to draw from that equip us for any questions you may have.

In addition to answering your questions by email and phone, we're also blogging about student life, the application process, and our diverse community. Be sure to check out our posts such as Harvard is [Not] The Social Network.

Please feel free to reach out to us anytime in the coming months. Also, keep in mind that we have a restrictive Early Action admissions program with a November 1st deadline and a Regular Decision admissions program with a deadline of January 1st.

We hope to hear from you soon!

Sincerely,

Matthew, Elizabeth, Genesis, and Leo
