here | | Summer is a great time to chill out and recharge your batteries. While it's tempting to put off your college search for a while, stick to these 3 tips to help stay on track: - Start working on your essay. Think about topics you'd like to write about and outline some ideas. If you plan on using the Common Application, you can even see what the essay prompts will be and get a head start on writing. This is your chance to go beyond the grades, test scores and recommendations — so be yourself! If you're funny, write a funny essay; if you are serious, write from the heart. This is your moment to shine so make the move that's right for you. Just don't forget to proofread, proofread, proofread...
- Register for Fall SAT/ACTs. Test scores can sometimes take weeks to reach admissions offices, so taking your tests early ensures that your application won't be delayed due to missing information. We will accept both the old and new SAT scores so don't stress if you're not sure what to send in. If you decide to take them again, you can always send updated scores to your admissions counselor later. Don't forget to add Simmons College to your test list so that we can receive your scores — our SAT code is 3761 and our ACT code is 1892.
- Create a calendar of important dates and deadlines. Are you applying early action vs. regular decision? Do you know when the FAFSA is due? Each college is different and there may be additional requirements to complete depending on your interests (honors program, athletics, scholarship applications, etc.). By adding important deadlines to your calendar, you'll stay on track and organized during the application process.
