Jordan Harvey as Spider-Man traveled from Oswego, NY, to attend Tora-Con 2016 at RIT. More than 2,500 anime enthusiasts attended the two-day event, which featured discussion panels, celebrity appearances, a concert, live action performances and countless costumed characters. The 12th annual event was put on by RIT's Student Anime Club.

Saunders College students earn first place in Macy's Marketing Challenge 2016

Four Saunders College of Business students created new marketing strategies to attract new millennial customers to Macy's department stores. The team earned first place for RIT in Macy's Undergraduate Marketing Challenge 2016—winning iPads and an all-expense-paid trip to New York City to present their ideas to company executives. WIC team to showcase anxiety monitoring bracelet at campus-wide festival

Keep calm and carry on, as you test out the stress monitor bracelet and app at the Imagine RIT: Innovation and Creativity Festival on May 7. Students from RIT's Women in Computing group will show how they created a wearable stress monitor prototype, aimed at helping children and those with stress and anxiety. The interactive exhibit, located in the Computer Zone in the Golisano Hall atrium, will allow festivalgoers to try out the bracelet and accompanying app. The cuff-style bracelet uses the wearable electronics platform Flora to detect the pulse and stress levels of the person wearing the device. College of Liberal Arts honors students for writing excellence

RIT's College of Liberal Arts honored student achievement in writing on Friday with the presentation of the 2016 Henry and Mary Kearse Distinguished Lecture and Student Writing Award Ceremony. "This is our big event of the year where we honor students in each of our programs who have done some outstanding writing in classes in the College of Liberal Arts," said Dean James Winebrake. "It really allows us to recognize and celebrate the good work of our students." It was the 36th year the awards have been presented. Faculty committees in each department within the College of Liberal Arts select student awardees from a variety of disciplines whose work embodies the ideals and standards of excellence, creative endeavor and scholarship.
