Sundy He, a third-year new media marketing student from Brooklyn, N.Y., explored the GE RV on campus. The GE Mobile Campus Tour stopped by RIT to speak with students about what it's like to be a woman working in science and technology. The RV also serves as a mobile recruiting center, offering female engineers, entrepreneurs, and innovators information on GE careers and the steps needed to apply to jobs post-graduation.

IdeaLab@RIT encourages students' 'outside of the box' thinking

RIT student Cole Miller loves diving head-first into big problems and surfacing with possible solutions—which is exactly why he keeps returning to the IdeaLab@RIT. A bi-annual event, IdeaLab@RIT brings together faculty coaches and students from multiple disciplines to work collaboratively on a client organization's real-world challenges over the course of a weekend. Twenty-one RIT students participated in the spring IdeaLab@RIT and developed possible solutions to challenges provided to them by Rochester Regional Health patients and healthcare personnel. RIT's video game design programs jump in Princeton Review rankings

RIT is one of the top schools in the world to study game design and launch games for 2017, according to new international rankings from The Princeton Review. RIT's game design and development program was ranked second at the undergraduate level and fourth at the graduate level. In 2016, RIT ranked third and seventh, respectively. RIT's program is housed in the School of Interactive Games (IGM) and Media within the B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences. "We are proud to once again be named a leader in the academic games and media space," said David Schwartz, director of RIT's School of Interactive Games and Media. "IGM is always looking for ways to expand the student experience, including this year with the introduction of a new e-sports program and giving students more opportunities to create games both in and out of the classroom." Undergraduate engineering students provide 3D-printed prosthetic arm to teen in Rwanda

When Eric first saw the prosthetic arm that two RIT engineering students designed, he was nervous about touching it, let alone wearing it. Family and friends from his village in Rwamagana, in eastern Rwanda, gathered to be there as he received the new hand, and they encouraged him to try it himself. Once he did, it seemed to change everything, said Laura Alderfer. She and Ken Postel, both undergraduate students in RIT's Kate Gleason College of Engineering, traveled to Rwanda to deliver the arm after spending the fall semester designing, printing and testing it for the 19-year-old boy. The two students had experience with international travel after previous work as part of Engineering World Health. The campus student organization had undertaken several international trips to Haiti, Guatemala and Rwanda to work in hospitals and other community organizations repairing and upgrading medical equipment.
