here | | Diana, have you ever heard of a "Learning Community"? At Simmons, our general education requirements are one-of-a-kind. We like to approach academics from every angle, giving our students unique ways to make connections and bridge gaps. Learning Communities are clusters of interdiciplinary courses that do just that by examining a topic from different fields, such as: -
Bioinformatics: Students combine biology and computer science to explore the relationship between microbes, our bodies, and the spread of disease. Using multiple scientific diciplines, students perform research projects in genomics and proteomics. -
The Birth of the Modern Era: Einstein, Picasso, and Freud were all innovators of their time, but who are the leaders of tomorrow? Through social network analysis, students will identify key players in the current century and draw comparisons to parallel revolutions that were happening in art and science 100 years ago. -
Individual and Community Health: Psychology and health go hand in hand, but this cluster of courses introduces nutrition as part of facilitating a happy and healthy lifestyle. Students will look at the factors that affect community nutrition and psychological health, and the ways in which they intersect. These Learning Communities and more are on our Simmons PLAN website or watch "The First Year" to hear from current students about their experiences so far. Submit your application before our Early Action II deadline on December 1, and you could be part of something great next year. Learn more: | |
