In the war on microbes, Vincent

Fischetti '62 H'10 points the way forward.

His discoveries may, some day, save your life.

Dr. Vincent Fischetti '62 H'10, head of the Laboratory of Bacterial Pathogenesis and Immunology at Rockefeller University, gave a talk at Wagner College on October 20 about his groundbreaking work to develop novel means of fighting infectious disease. His work exploiting bacteriophages, a type of virus that attacks bacteria, is leading to new medical treatments. Now in phase 2 clinical trials, the new treatments show great promise to cure antibiotic-resistant infections such as MRSA, much faster and more effectively than current treatments. What an opportunity for our microbiology students!
