Dear Diana: The Pitzer community is committed to intercultural understanding, both at home and overseas. Students have the opportunity to explore issues and events on a global/local level and analyze them through a cultural lens other than their own. Click the image below to find out what Intercultural Understanding means to our students:

53% of Pitzer’s students study abroad compared to the national average of 2%. The Office of Study Abroad and International Programs sponsors both semester and summer study abroad opportunities, available on 6 continents and dozens of countries worldwide. Pitzer is also proud to introduce our new 6-week summer direct-run programs in Bahia, Brazil and Hue, Vietnam! Our immersive model has led our students to seek out post-graduate opportunities to travel overseas. In fact, for 12 of the last 13 years, Pitzer has been the top producer of student Fulbright Fellowships among US undergraduate colleges. 10% of Pitzer students are international, and 30% of Pitzer’s faculty members were born outside of the United States. Current professors hail from Canada, Cuba, Germany, Ireland and Senegal, to name a few. They provide a unique international perspective to the Pitzer curriculum.
Pitzer’s identity is comprised of the many stories and experiences our students and faculty bring to the community. At Pitzer, students are taught how to find their voice, and how to transcend cultural boundaries in the name of moving from an ethno-centrist to ethno-relative perspective on the world.
