We Make Leaders

Dear Diana,

When I was a senior in high school my life looked very different than it does now. Sitting there on April 30, the final day to decide where I would go to college, I had no idea that the decision I would make would forever impact my future. I wasn’t really sure of much, but at that moment when I chose Purdue one thing was certain, I would be a Boilermaker.

Going into college, I knew I wanted to study business and find a job that would help me to provide a stable life for a family that I eventually would want. I also knew that I wanted to study abroad. These were the only two things that I knew for sure. There were also ambiguous desires. I wanted to get involved, get good grades, make new friends, and create a new life for myself at Purdue. I just wasn’t quite sure how to go about doing this. My Mom always taught me to go with the flow because everything happens for a reason. So, I tried to embrace this advice as much as possible. Now, here I am a college senior, looking back and realizing how grateful I am for all the opportunities Purdue has given me.

I immediately became involved in Greek life and gained 120 sisters who would have an impact on me personally and professionally, lasting far beyond the college years. These women have been role models in various ways and helped to shape me into who I am today. I have grown to love Krannert through my involvement in Krannert Ambassadors. I have had three internship opportunities, two of which were obtained at the Krannert-sponsored career fairs. I have studied abroad for an entire semester in Madrid, Spain, where I learned to live outside of my comfort zone and got to see a lot of the world. I have a community here at the Catholic Church, St. Tomas Aquinas, where I volunteer. Old Masters has been a Purdue program that has given me a new sense of Purdue pride.

These are all the reasons that I am ever grateful for Purdue and the wonderful opportunities it has presented me. There is something so sentimental about becoming a senior in college, but the one thing that gives me the most hope is knowing that the best is yet to come. Find your fit and change your world by embracing all that Purdue has to offer. Forever, Boiler up!

Kindest Regards,

Maggie Godleski
