RIT SpringFest entertainment was announced Friday in the Student Alumni Union. Walk the Moon, well known for their pop hit, "Shut Up and Dance," will perform on April 30. The annual spring festival runs April 28-May 1.

All-female racing team builds community, curriculum, connections—oh yeah—and a car

When RIT students arrive at the Formula Hybrid competition at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway in May, they will make history. The 38 women will be the first and only all-female team at the event, hosted by the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth College. They will compete in the electrical division against universities such as Georgia Institute of Technology, Tufts, Yale and Princeton in a single-seat electric racecar that they built from the ground up. The undergraduate students are doing all of the engineering, welding and sourcing of components, as well as negotiating sponsorship deals, crowdsourcing and making a project management plan. Princeton Review Ranks RIT as a top video-game design school

RIT is one of the top schools in the world to study—and launch a career in—game design for 2016, according to new international rankings from The Princeton Review. RIT's game design and development program was ranked third at the undergraduate level and seventh at the graduate level. "We are proud to once again be named one of the country's best game design programs," said David Schwartz, director of RIT's School of Interactive Games and Media. "Our students are ushering in a new era of games and experiences with their work in the classroom, competitions, at the annual Game Developers Conference in San Francisco and during their cooperative education experiences at some the industry's biggest names in games." NSF Director Córdova to give 2016 commencement address

France A. Córdova, director of the National Science Foundation (NSF), will be the keynote speaker for Rochester Institute of Technology's 131st commencement celebration. RIT President Bill Destler said the university is honored to have Córdova addressing its graduates. "With a distinguished career as an academic and researcher, and now as champion of our nation's scientific endeavors, Director Córdova works to keep our country at the international forefront of science and engineering," Destler said. "That same goal is central to RIT's mission, so her message will surely be one that inspires our graduates and their families.
