Diana, every year our students and alumni achieve amazing results.
Three of our students were named Rhodes Scholars this year. Rhodes Scholars are chosen not only for their outstanding scholarly achievements, but for their character, commitment to others and to the common good, and for their potential for leadership in their future career paths. The addition of Miriam, Ridwan, and Collin bring Dartmouth's total to 78 Rhodes Scholars since the fellowship was founded.
Expressing perspectives Miriam Kilimo ’14 conducted research on “Inter-Ethnic Friendship Among Youth in Urban Kenya.” A poet, journalist, and blogger, she is pursuing a master's in women’s studies.
Surpassing barriers Ridwan Hassen ’15, computer science major modified with neuroscience, graduated from Dartmouth as a first-generation college student. As a Rhodes Scholar, he is pursuing public policy.
Changing minds Colin Walmsley ’15 wrote his senior thesis, “Queer Youth Homelessness in New York City,” with funding from Dartmouth’s Anthropology Department. He plans to use film to increase acceptance of marginalized communities.
Having an impact Beyond our borders, Dartmouth alumni are making a difference in 150 countries around the world. 170 Dartmouth alumni—including New York Senator, Kirsten Gillibrand ‘88—have served in the U.S. Congress.
We’ll give you the tools to make a difference and to help you accomplish the extraordinary—in whatever field you choose.
What will you do?
