Nineteen RIT students traveled to Cuba for the Photography in Cuba course, a nine-day intensive study abroad experience. The objective of the course is to introduce students to a unique culture through lectures, field trips, museums and photographing the environment and people. RIT student team wins innovation award at SpaceX Hyperloop competition

An interdisciplinary team of undergraduates from RIT won a Special Innovation Award at the SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Design Competition held at Texas A&M University, Jan. 29-30. The students received the award in the subsystem category for their novel approach to tube diagnostics and optical communication for the proposed futuristic high-speed rail system. Distinguished Alumnus successful Nike designer

Nike's Vice President of Design Innovation, Eric Avar '90, grew up with a mechanical engineer father and fine artist mother, but did not know a marriage of the two disciplines could exist beyond his parent's union until he came to RIT. "I had no idea what industrial design or product design was before RIT," Avar said. "Within the first two weeks on campus I just happened to find my way up to the fourth floor of the design building and was immediately enthralled by this balance of art and science." Read More >>
