  • NEW! Drawn from Life: Illustrating the Personal Narrative
    October 03, 2019 – October 31, 2019

This course combines an overview of popular graphic narratives with a hands-on approach to creating an illustrated essay of the student's own. Beginning with an introduction to the many forms of graphic storytelling, including Renaissance fresco and tapestry cycles, manga, comics and film sequences, the course deconstructs elements of their form, symbolism and style, and invites the student to select an essay (or write one from their life) which is, through the drawing process, realized as a short pictorial narrative.
