Hailing from the small town of Wood Dale, Illinois, Patrick was immediately embraced by the welcoming culture of Hawai'i and HPU.

"Hawai'i has always been a second home to me. In addition, I wanted to see what this world has to offer so I decided to expand my horizons by attending one of the most diverse universities in the nation."

While Patrick describes his experience moving to Hawai'i as "a rush yet daunting," he also took the opportunity to venture out of his comfort zone and make lifelong friends, as well as learn to "Live Aloha." According to Patrick, this is the best way to fit into life at HPU, "The best-fit student is one open to change and on a mission to live Aloha. No matter what happens, just try to smile because you're in paradise!"

For Patrick, the theme of "Live Aloha" is something that also translated to his summer internship back home. As an intern for AAR CORP he's had an unforgettable experience, "Togetherness is something I'll never forget about my time here at AAR CORP. My coworkers have made me feel like I'm at a home away from home…whether it be surprising me with Hawaiian themed gifts, helping me with every question I ask, or giving me brilliant business advice, it's a blessing to have an opportunity to work at AAR CORP with my fellow coworkers."

Supporting student success in and outside of the classroom is the essence of an HPU education. "My education at Hawai'i Pacific University is the reason for my success at this internship. After taking various marketing courses, on top of other business and liberal arts courses, I've been able to take advantage of every opportunity that has come my way.
