Rice University - Office of Admission

Diana,

Congratulations on the start of your senior year! As you prepare college applications and narrow your list of schools, I hope that you will seriously consider Rice University.

You may already know that Rice is among the nation's top comprehensive research universities. What you may not know is that one of Rice's greatest strengths is its diverse student body. Fifty-one percent of our freshmen are students of color and last month, Princeton Review ranked Rice as the top university in the nation for having "Lots of Race/Class Interaction."

Rice's residential college system forms the foundation of our inclusive campus community. Every student belongs to a residential college where they form life-long friendships with students, faculty and staff. In addition, Rice undergraduates are involved in more than 250 student organizations, including groups such as HACER (the Hispanic Association for Cultural Enrichment at Rice), SHPE (the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers), and ADVANCE (Advocating DiVersity And the Need for Cultural Exchange). For a full list of cultural clubs at Rice, click here.

Rice's collaborative and intellectually vibrant community, along with its need-blind admission process and generous financial assistance programs, make it an excellent choice for the nation's top students.

As the Coordinator of Hispanic Recruitment, I look forward to addressing any questions you may have about Rice's admission process or student life. I can be reached by email at diana.porter@rice.edu or by phone at (713) 348-RICE.

Best wishes for a successful school year, and don't forget to have some fun!

Sincerely,
Diana Porter
