here | | Diana, your college application process is about to get real! Here are 5 tips to help you stay on track: Start exploring majors and programs: Research majors, clubs, organizations, sports teams, languages, and anything else you feel passionate about pursuing, and make sure the colleges you are considering offer them. (Undecided? That's ok - College Board and Unigo have great tools to help you explore.) Visit, visit, visit: Don't apply to a school just because your friend is going there or your parents really like it - make sure YOU like it! How do you know if you'll like it? VISIT! Finding the right college is about "fit" and sometimes you need to feel it to know for sure. Talk to people: Do you have siblings or relatives in college? Is there a teacher or someone professional that you really admire? Talk to them and find out what they really love about their college. Meet admission counselors: You might receive emails from schools traveling through your area or attending a college fair near your school. Come say hi! Have coffee with us! Admission counselors love getting to know you and it's a great way to get your questions answered or have an interview in the comfort of your own hometown. See if Simmons is going to be in your area! Stay involved: While academic performance is important to college admission, your extracurricular involvement shows who you are and what you care about. Even after you get accepted, colleges will want to see that you didn't suffer a "senior slump" and that you're still committed to your academics and activities.
