Dear Diana:

Imagine yourself standing in Marsh Plaza, the heart of BU's campus. See that statue with 50 doves? It's a memorial to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Legend has it that when the world achieves world peace, the doves will break apart and fly away. Careful--don't step on the BU seal, or you won't graduate in four years (or so the legend goes). From here you can:
  • Head eastbound, where academic buildings are buzzing with students and professors engaged in meaningful discussions about everything from business ethics to anatomy to the power of persuasion. In the Yawkey Center for Student Services, students receive peer tutoring and career guidance, while others enjoy a meal in Marciano Commons.

  • Walk westbound. You'll pass Mugar Memorial Library and the George Sherman Union. Across the street, you'll see EPIC, the Engineering Product Innovation Center, where students are using 3D printers to take their inventions from concept to reality.

  • Continue across the BU Bridge (one of the only places in the world where a boat can row under a train traveling under a car driven under an airplane flying overhead), and you can head toward the Student Village, FitRec, Agganis Arena, and more.
Want to explore more of the campus spots you'd pass on a walk down Comm Ave? Check them out on our interactive map.

Best wishes,

John C. McEachern
