President Destler announces 2017 retirement

William W. Destler, RIT's ninth president, announced that he will retire at the end of the 2016-2017 academic year. Destler's career in higher education has spanned more than 40 years, with his last decade serving as RIT's leader. A nationwide search for a successor will begin immediately. Under Destler's leadership, RIT's enrollment has reached record levels, selectivity and diversity have improved, the value of research awards has skyrocketed and geographic draw continues to widen across the U.S. and overseas. More graduates leaving RIT with two degrees or majors

The sky's the limit for most RIT graduates, but not for Anthony Hennig. He's aiming even higher. "I would love to be an astronaut," he said. "My goal is to support space exploration." Hennig, of Richmond, Va., has studied five years at RIT and is graduating with dual degrees: a bachelor's in mechanical engineering with an aerospace option, and a master's degree in science, technology and public policy. Hennig is one of approximately 220 students this year graduating with dual degrees or majors. It's a trend that RIT administrators—and prospective employers—greatly welcome. Read More >>

RIT renames global campus to RIT Kosovo

Rochester Institute of Technology and the American University in Kosovo Foundation Inc. signed an agreement to officially rename the RIT/A.U.K. global campus to RIT Kosovo. The announcement was made during the first Global Governance Forum held on the RIT campus. RIT President Bill Destler and RIT Provost Jeremy Haefner celebrated with three international colleagues from RIT Kosovo: Vice-President for Academic Affairs Daniel Cosentino, Academic Senate Chair Mimoza Mustafa and Public Policy faculty Robert Muharremi.
